Artist statement
Spongieart is a young woman who creates digital illustrations, with specialty in cartoons, comics, and anime style art.
Growing up, Spongieart could not wait when she and her family would take a trip to the local library to pick out some books. She and her brother would always head straight to the comic book and manga area. Reading mangas and comics made Spongieart fall in love with art and she would often mimic their style. Influenced by these art styles from cartoon shows and manga, she grew up to eventually develop her own unique style.
Spongieart specializes in two major styles: anime-inspired and chibi. She has stories to tell that she hopes to publish one day with a diverse cast of characters. For now, she creates stand-alone artworks that allow her creativity to flow. She hopes one day that she can build a little community of her own.
Having been published recently as an illustrator, Spongieart wants to encourage others to learn the value of their drawings, paintings, sketches, etc. She believes all forms of art should allow artists to create, explore, and express themselves.
